Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 29, 2026
Introduction and who controls your data
Family Playbook (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is owned and operated by Israel Johnson, an individual sole proprietor trading as “Family Playbook.” Israel Johnson is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy and decides how and why it is processed. Family Playbook is a private platform that helps users connect with and engage the people they choose — their family, group, care circle, or household.
By using Family Playbook, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Information you provide
We collect information you enter or upload when creating an account, building your Playbook, inviting members, sending messages, creating tasks or events, and using other features. This may include your name, email address, mobile phone number, profile photo, relationships, and any content you choose to share within a Playbook.
Account and profile information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password handled by our authentication provider. You may also add a profile photo, preferred name, and other optional details. Your profile information is used to identify you to other members of the Playbooks you belong to.
Email addresses
We use your email address to authenticate you, send account-related communications, deliver invitations, and send important service notices. We do not sell or rent email addresses to third parties for marketing purposes.
Mobile phone numbers
If you provide a mobile phone number, we use it to send transactional SMS messages such as verification codes, account-related alerts, and invitations you choose to send. Providing a mobile phone number is optional unless a feature you choose to use requires it.
Information necessary to operate Family Playbook
To operate the service, we also collect technical information such as device type, browser type, IP address, crash logs, and usage analytics. We use this information to maintain security, diagnose problems, and improve the service.
How information is used
We use the information we collect to provide, secure, and improve Family Playbook; to process invitations and memberships; to deliver messages and notifications you request; to enforce our Terms & Conditions; and to communicate with you about your account.
SMS messaging and mobile information
Mobile phone information is used to provide requested Family Playbook communications, including account-related communications, invitations, verification, and other transactional messages.
Message frequency may vary depending on your use of the service and the notifications you or your Playbook send.
Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details.
You may reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages at any time. After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message and no further SMS messages unless you opt back in.
You may reply HELP for assistance.
SMS consent is not a condition of purchase or of using Family Playbook.
Mobile information, including phone numbers and SMS consent information, will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Payments and billing
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. For most purchases, Stripe manages the transaction end-to-end — including sales tax/VAT compliance, fraud protection, and dispute handling.
When you subscribe, Stripe collects and processes the information needed to take payment — such as your name, billing email, billing address, country, tax identifiers where applicable, and payment card or wallet details. Payment card details are handled by Stripe and are never collected or stored by us. We receive from Stripe only limited order information such as your customer and subscription identifiers, plan, subscription status, renewal dates, and payment outcomes, which we use to activate and maintain your subscription.
Stripe acts as an independent controller for the payment, tax compliance, invoicing and fraud-prevention activities it carries out. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy for details.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the following categories of recipients:
Payment processor. Stripe, for the sale of subscriptions, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, invoicing and refunds.
Service providers and subprocessors. Our hosting, database and authentication provider; our email delivery provider; and our SMS provider, solely to deliver the messages and features you request.
Other members of your Playbook. Content you share is visible according to the privacy level you choose for it.
Professional advisers and authorities. Legal or accounting advisers, and authorities where disclosure is required by law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
Legal basis for processing
Performance of a contract — to create and maintain your account, operate your Playbook, deliver invitations and notifications you request, and process your subscription.
Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, diagnose problems, and improve Family Playbook.
Consent — for optional features such as SMS messaging and any non-essential cookies or analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time, for example by replying STOP to SMS.
Legal obligation — to meet tax, accounting and other legal requirements, including those arising from your purchase.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. Our payment provider sets cookies at checkout that are necessary to complete a purchase and to prevent fraud. We do not use advertising cookies. You can manage or clear cookies in your browser settings, though blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and database-level privacy rules, to protect your information. However, no online service can guarantee complete security.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and data at any time.
Your choices
You can update or delete your profile information, leave a Playbook, adjust privacy levels on content you create, and delete your account. You can also opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP.
Children's privacy
Family Playbook is intended for use by adults and by minors under the supervision of a guardian. Youth accounts are created through a guardian invitation and have reduced permissions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate guardian consent.
Contact information
Family Playbook is operated by Israel Johnson. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, use “Send feedback” inside the Family Playbook app or contact us at Israeljohnsonlifecoach@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the service or by email. Your continued use of Family Playbook after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
